Monarchs lay their eggs only on milkweed, and their larvae feed only on milkweed.

Monarch butterflies make a 3,000-mile flight in the fall to their winter grounds in the Sierra Nevada Mountains of Mexico, covering 50 to 100 miles a day. They reproduce over four cycles in the spring and summer and return north, including to Connecticut.

Packets of seeds are available by e-mailing info@norwalklandtrust.org or through the NLT newsletter.
